There was a festive atmosphere at the KIDSART Art Show Opening Night, with the kids and their art at center stage! The Damien B. Center for Contemporary Art was popping with a great live musical performance by Oscar Fuentes and Friends, and all the artists who participated in KIDSART showed their work, alongside the kids' creations. Special thanks to major KIDSART sponsor World Resource Cafe for supplying the beverages! Many thanks to John DeFaro and Luis Valle for their help in making sure the event ran smoothly, and of course to Damien B. for donating the space. Agustina Woodgate had an amazing piece displayed with her kids' felting pieces, which became an installation. The mural that Johnny Robles worked on with the kids (and some parents, too) was displayed, as was some of Johnny's unique work. Luis Valle's inimitable style was evident in the art he showed, and Tracey Hagen's photography, next to the kids' photo collages, was also wonderful. There was a video of Oscar's theater workshop with the kids, and everyone relived the laughter and excitement of that one! And of course the legendary bottle tree created by the kids with John DeFaro was on display. This was a real Second Saturday Art Walk Opening Night for all the kids, and everyone had a blast! We hope to see you all next summer for the next round of KIDSART. In the meantime, keep the art coming!
